The Nose and Sinus Institute of Boca Raton
The physicians at the Nose and Sinus Institute of Boca Raton have been at the forefront of advances in medical, allergic and surgical care of these organs since the 1980s.
Medical Director Nathan E. Nachlas, MD, was the Chief Resident of the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore when minimally invasive sinus surgery was introduced to the United States at that institution in 1985. This was a major revolution in the treatment of chronic sinusitis. For the first time ever, patients suffering from the life altering symptoms of this disease could be treated in an outpatient setting without the cutting and invasiveness of major sinus surgery.
After completing his chief residency year at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Nachlas completed a fellowship in facial plastic surgery in Beverly Hills, California. Establishing his practice in Boca Raton, Florida in 1987, Dr. Nachlas introduced the Total Nose Approach(TM) to enable patients requiring functional improvement as well as external changes to their nose.
The Total Nose Approach (TM) services offered at the Nose and Sinus Institute of Boca Raton have expanded to include computer guided minimally invasive sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty and computer assisted balloon sinuplasty. Dr. Nachlas was one of three surgeons in the United States to introduce computer guided minimally invasive sinus surgery in the early 1990s. This procedure rapidly became the standard of care for sinus surgery. In office Computer assisted balloon sinuplasty (CABS) was introduced in the United States at the Nose and Sinus Institute of Boca Raton in 2014, and the physicians there continue to have one of the world’s largest experiences with this procedure.
